GARDA VETTING OF COMPANIONS
To provide a thorough vetting process and protect our older homeowners, Garda vetting is available at the request of the next of kin working with Elder Home Share. Garda Vetting is the process by which the Garda discloses details regarding prosecutions and convictions against an individual, with their consent, to a prospective employer or organization such as Elder Home Share. Garda Vetting can take 3 to 6 weeks to process on behalf of your home share companion.

For Elder Home Share, the Garda Vetting process is initiated by the next of kin representing the homeowner requesting a Garda vetting report. The prospective companion for that homeowner then visits the website below, pays 260 euro, and will follow the instructions to receive their vetting report. This fee is covered by the next kin, not by the home share companion. Once the companion receives the vetting report, they then share it with the next of kin. It is important to note that the companion does not need to complete the course described, but may complete the course for their own professional development. Once paying for the course, however, the companion will be able to obtain a Garda Vetting report on themself.
